Have you ever heard of the parable of the blind men and an elephant?
It is a story of a group of blind men who encounter an elephant for the first time in their lives. After each touching parts of the elephant, they each articulate what they have come to understand the elephant is. Each blind man however has only felt one part, for example the ear or the tusk. Each description of the elephant differs and is ultimately incomplete.
Many IT Management stakeholders in market have a similar experience with the concept of DevOps. Some believe that DevOps comprises test automation, others believe it’s about agile development and again others may see infrastructure virtualisation as DevOps. Many IT Practitioners these days believe that DevOps is a particular tool.
