It is a story of a group of blind men who encounter an elephant for the first time in their lives. After each touching parts of the elephant, they each articulate what they have come to understand the elephant is. Each blind man however has only felt one part, for example the ear or the tusk. Each description of the elephant differs and is ultimately incomplete.

Many IT Management stakeholders in market have a similar experience with the concept of DevOps. Some believe that DevOps comprises test automation, others believe it’s about agile development and again others may see infrastructure virtualisation as DevOps. Many IT Practitioners these days believe that DevOps is a particular tool.

• Harold, a management consultant and transformation manager with over 30 years of experience, specialising in Digital Strategy, DevOps, SIAM, ESM, ITSM, Agile CSI, ICT Governance and Project, Programme, Portfolio Management.
• Harold holds MSP Advanced Practitioner and ITIL Master certificates and has been a certified trainer and implementer in DevOps, ITIL, COBIT, MSP, P3O, PRINCE2, and PRINCE2 Agile since 1994.
• He has extensive experience in programme/project management, organisational change management, and consulting, and served as a DASA ambassador in Australia and a council member of itSMF Australia and Singapore.
• Harold has also held leadership roles on the itSMF-International Executive Board and is a regular speaker at itSMF, PMI, and ISACA events.
